Rayon fabric is not as sturdy as cotton and therefore, requires more care. However, the fabric is well worth the extra care and will last a long time with just a few extra minutes of care.
1. Read the label and follow manufactures instructions.
2. Most Rayon shirts require dry cleaning; however, you can hand wash some rayon materials, check on label.
3. If you are washing by hand, use cool water with a little detergent made for hand washing, some people use Woo-lite. 4. Gently squeeze the fabric but NEVER wring, twist, or bunch up rayon.
5. Gently shake it out and smooth out the wrinkles.
6. Hang to dry on a plastic hanger, never a wire hanger. Hang carefully as rayon is especially delicate when wet.
7. Iron rayon material inside out to keep it from shining. Use low heat and press it while it is slightly damp to ease the wrinkling. If you must touch up the right side of the garment, cover it with a cloth first.
Some people have washed rayon in a delicate bag on gentle cycle in a washing machine. I’d be cautious of doing this but I’ve heard it can be done.
